줄(벼과 줄속) Zizania latifolia (Griseb.) Turcz. ex Stapf

습지 가운데 무더기를 이루고 있는 벼과 식물이다.

잎은 마치 부들처럼 길고 넓다. 열매는 벌써 다 떨어지고 빈 둥지만 남아 있다.

 

 

 

잎은 길이 50-100cm, 폭 2-3cm로서 납작하고 두꺼우며 곧게 서고 깔깔하며 기부는 점차 가늘어지면서 엽초로 된다.

엽초는 갯솜질로서 두꺼우며 털이 없다. 엽설은 3각형으로서 백색이고 막질이며 끝이 둔하거나 뾰족하다

 

8-9월에 길이 30-50cm의 큰 원추화서가 발달하며 가지는 반윤생하고 갈라지는 곳에 털이 있다.
