도청 남쪽 큰 저수지 호민지 가장자리 진창에 갈대가 산다.

이 녀석은 강하류나 해안의 뻘  진창에 자생한다.

달뿌리풀에 비하여 소달뿌리풀에 비하여 갈대가 화서가 크고 소화나 포영의 크기도 크다.

1포영의 길이가 첫 호영의 1/3 정도로 짧다.  엽설에 짧은 털이 있다.
