갈참나무(참나무과) Quercus aliena Blume

잎은 호생하며 타원상 도란형 또는 타원형이고 길이 5~30cm, 나비 3-19cm로서 둔두 또는 예두이며

 예저가 보통이지만 원저 또는 심장저도 있고 끝이 둔하며 4-8쌍의 치아상 또는 뾰족한 톱니가 있고

표면은 광택이 나는 녹색이며 뒷면은 회백색이고 2-17개로 갈라진 성모가 있으며

주맥 위의 단모는 곧 떨어지고 엽병은 길이 1-36mm이며 가장자리에 파상 또는 굵은 모양의 톱니가 있다.

 

열매의 각두는 삼각형의 포린으로 덮이고 긴 타원형의 견과는 10월에 익는다.

견과는 길이 6-23mm, 지름 7-16mm로서 끝부분에 털이 있다.

수고 25m, 지름 1m에 달하고 수피는 약간 거칠게 그물처럼 갈라지며 동아와 소지는 담록색으로 처음에는 털이 있지만 곧 없어진다.
