신갈나무(참나무과 참나무속) Quercus mongolica Fisch. ex Ledeb.

한 여름 오후 시각 얕은 능선에 오르니 멀리 낙동강이 여유롭게 휘어져 내리고

산뜻한 페러글라이드는 날개를 활짝 펴고 하늘로 솟아 오른다.

 

그 끓어오르던 열기도 잠시 휴식을 하는 사이 그래도 귓등을 타고 내리는 땀줄기 연신 닦으면서

신갈나무 잎새 하나에 정신줄 얹어 본다.

 

인편이(비늘) 기왓장처럼 포갠 각두(깍정이) 요람 속에는 아직 어린 도토리가 젖냄새를 풍기고 있다.

참나무속 중에서 고도가 높은 고산 암릉 능선부나 사면에 주로 서식을 한다.

 

 

 

잎 모양을 보면 신갈나무 순종이라기 보다 교잡종으로 보이기도 한다

 

 

 

간 가지에는 잎이 어긋나기이지만 가지 끝에서는 모여나는 것처럼 밀집해 있다.

 

 

엽병이 거의 없고 엽저가 귓볼처럼 생긴 점은 떡갈나무와 거의 흡사한데

떡갈나무보다는 잎이 조금 작고 물결성 거치가 뾰족한 편이며 잎자루에 털이 없다
