복사앵도나무(장미과 벚나무속) 열매 Prunus choreiana Nakai ex H.T.Im

발갛게 작 익은 복사앵도나무 열매를 적기에 만나기는 쉽지 않다

결실율도 그리 높지 않은 데다가 제 때에 녀석을 마주할 기회가 없다.

석회암지대 산지에 자라기 때문에 일부러 그 쪽 자생지로 찾아가야 하기 때문이다.

 

마침 오랜만에 이 골짜기에 들러서 몇 가지 촬영을 하고 계곡을 빠져 나오는데 빨간 열매가 눈에 들어온다.

열매는 앵도나무보다 조금 더 크다. 

석회암 지대 산지의 양지바른 곳에 나는 낙엽 활엽 떨기나무로 높이 2~3m 정도로 자란다. 나무껍질은 회색이고 어린가지는 밤색으로 광택이 있으며 오래되면 얇게 벗겨진다. 잎은 어긋나며, 잎자루는 길이 2~4mm이다. 잎몸은 난상 타원형 또는 도란상 타원형으로 길이 3~7cm이며, 잎밑은 뾰족하고, 잎 가장자리는 잔거치가 있으며, 잎끝은 뾰족하다.  우리나라 함남 장령, 평남 맹산, 성천, 강원 면산, 자병산, 삼척, 정선, 경북 봉화 등에 분포하는 한반도 특산종이다. 이 종은 복숭아나무나 벚나무와 비슷하지만 꽃잎이 1cm, 너비 5mm로 좁으며, 씨방에 털이 없고, 암술대 기부에 털이 있는 점에서 구분하며, 외형상 자두나무와 비슷하다.
