앵도나무(장미과 벚나무속) Prunus tomentosa Thunb.

어릴 적 집 뒤안에는 앵두나무 2그루가 있었다.

과일이 귀하던 시절, 시골에서는 집집마다 앵두나무 한두그루를 심어 놓기도 했다.

 

모심기를 할 때 쯤에는 통통하게 잘 익은 빨간 열매가 반짝거리기 시작하는데,

잘 익은 열매를 한 웅큼 따서 입에 털어 넣고 우물거리면서 삼키던 달콤한 맛을 잊을 수가 없다.

 

높이 3m쯤의 관목이며 나무껍질은 흑갈색이고 어린가지에 부드러운 털이 밀생한다.

꽃지름 1.5~2cm으로 매우 작고 꽃자루가 아주 짧다
