말채나무(층층나무과 층층나무속) 동아 수피 Cornus walteri Wangerin

황벽나무 종류로 추정 되는 녀석을 확인하려고 눈덮인 단양 골 깊은 마을에 들렀다.

가는 도중 마을 동수나무처럼 서 있는 자잘한 열매를 단 나무가 눈에 들어 오길래 잠시 차를 세웠다.

수피는 분명 말채나무인데....마을 어르신 한테 이 나무를 뭐라고 부르고 있냐고 물으니 모르겠단다.

 

황벽나무 확인이 급해서 그냥 지났다가 돌아 나오는 길에 차에서 내렸다.

나지막한 가지의 마주나는 가지와 동아를 살피니까 말채나무가 맞다.

가지가 너무 짧고 조밀해서 눈에 설더니만 자라는 환경 때문에 숲에서 자연스럽게 자란 모습과 달라 보인 것 같다.
