층층나무(층층나무과 층층나무속) Cornus controversa Hemsl.

이 녀석 층을 이루고 있는 가지를 보면 참 질서가 있다는 느낌이다. 수피가 매끈한 편으로 잎의 맥이

잎은 호생하며 넓은 난형 또는 타원상 난형이고 급한 점첨두이며 원저이다. 길이 5~12cm, 너비 3~8cm로 

 표면은 녹색이며 어릴때 복모가 약간 있고 뒷면은 백색으로서 잔털이 밀생하며 가장자리가 밋밋하다.

측맥은 5-10쌍이며

엽병은 길이 3~5cm로 붉은 빛이 돌고 털이 있으나 점차 없어진다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

높이가 20m에 달하고 수피는 얕게 세로로 홈이 져서 터지며 가지는 계단상으로 윤생하며 층을 형성하여 수평으로 퍼지고 붉은빛이 돈다.

어린줄기와 가지는 붉은 빛의 윤채가 나고 피목이 산재 한다. 낙엽 후 소지는 겨울동안 붉은빛을 띠는 것이 특징이다.
