바늘엉겅퀴(국화과 엉겅퀴속)

1100고지의 바람이 거칠다. 벌써 가을을 보내려는 준비의 몸짓일까?

붉은 한라부추가 카펫을 만들고 있는 습지에 앙칼지게 성질을 내고 있는 바늘엉겅퀴가 제철이다.

 

8월 초순에도 겨우 꽃봉오리 맺고 있더니만 이제사 꽃을 피웠다. 엉겅퀴속 중에서 아마 가장 늦게 꽃을 피우는 녀석이지 싶다.

바늘 목도리 총포를 받치고 있는 모습이 감히 접근을 허락하지 않겠다는 위협을 느끼게 한다.
