골담초(콩과)

골담초는 열매를 맺지 않는단다.

맺지 않는 게 아니라 결실률이 낮아서 열매를 거의 달지를 않으니 맺는 것을 거의 보지 못하였다는 게 맞겠다.

잎은 우수1회우상복엽으로 2쌍씩 붙어 있고 호생하며 엽축 끝은 대개 가시로 되고 소엽은 4개로서 탁엽은 길이가 4~8mm로 가시로 변한다.

 

 

 

잎 자루 아래 탁엽이 변한 가시가 보인다.

열매는 협과로 맺히며 길이는 3~3.5cm 정도라는데 이 녀석 열매를 본 적이 없다. 결실률이 매우 낮다고 한다

 

 

 

뿌리를 캐서 햇볕에 말린 골담초는 한방에서 무릎뼈가 쑤시거나 다리가 부을 때 또는 신경통에 쓰고 있으며, 뿌리로 술을 빚어 마시기도 한다.

 

 

 

꽃은 노란색으로 5월에 잎겨드랑이에서 1~2송이씩 밑으로 처져 피나, 나비처럼 생긴 꽃의 한가운데는 약간 적갈색을 띤다.
