낙우송(낙우송과) Taxodium distichum (L.) Rich.

메타세쿼이아와 거의 흡사한 이 녀석은 물 근처에서 뿌리가 땅 위로 혹처럼 솟아오르는 숨쉬는 뿌리가 특징이다.

뿌리가 물에 잠겨도 이 호흡근으로 숨을 쉬도록 되어 있어서 습지에서도 살아가는 방법의 하나라고 한다. 

 

 

잎은 장지에서는 호생하며 나선상으로 달리고 길이 5~10cm로 우상복엽이며 하부의 단지에서는 2줄로 어긋나게 배열된다.

소엽은 선형 예두로서 질이 얇으며 길이 15-20mm로서 밝은 녹색이다. 겨울에는 갈색으로 변하여 단지와 함께 떨어진다.
