개지치(지치과)

사곡 산수유 마을에 온 산이 산수유 꽃빛으로 노랗게 물들 때

산수유 꽃 그늘 아래에서 개지치도 분홍색, 하얀색  꽃별을 단다.

 

2002년 교감으로 승진하면서 부임한 사곡초등학교 마을에는 봄이면 노란 산수유 꽃이 파란 보리밭과 어울려 출퇴근 길이 무척이나 즐거웠었다.

산수유 꽃이 끝나는 5월이면 온 들판이 분홍색 작약 꽃으로 또 다시 장관을 이루었는데.

 

사곡을 떠나 연구원으로 자리를 옮긴 후 언젠가 산수유 꽃이 그리워서 4월 어느 일요일 산수유 마을을 찾은 적이 있다.

산수유 축제가 열리는 곳은 사곡학교 부근의 산수유 나무와는 비교가 안될 만큼 오래된 고목들로 도랑가며 산비탈이 숲을 이루고 있었는데

사곡의 산수유는 사진작가들에게도 한 번씩 발걸음하게 한다더니 황사 바람에도 불구하고 대포를 멘 작가들이 심심치 않게 보였었다.

 

그 노란 꽃향기에 취하여 골짜기 까지 오가는 길에 하얗게 불그스름하게 꽃을 피우고 있던 개지치를 만났던 것이다.

아마 2007년이었지 싶다. 그 때는 이 녀석 이름을 몰라서 여기 저기 뒤지기도 했었는데.

다음 해 찾아가 보니 거름더미에 묻혀서 다 사라지고, 겨우 어린 개체 몇 포기 목숨 부지한 걸 보았던 기억을 찾아서 오늘 그 자리에 갔다.

 

그런데 녀석들 이렇게 풍성하게 식구들 불리고 있었다. 혹시나 사라졌으면 어쩌나 조바심을 했더니 잘 살아 주어 고맙다.

모시고 간 두 분 꽃동무님께 체면이 섰다. 지치와 비슷하지만 뿌리에 지치같은 색소가 없기 때문에 개지치라 한다.

 

이 녀석은 신기하게도 꽃봉오리일 때는 분홍색, 꽃이 피면 흰색, 시들면 파란색으로 변한다.

잎 가장자리가 약간 뒤로 말린다. 잎 앞 뒤, 줄기에 하얀 털이 밀생한다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

잎은 흰색의 거센 털이 많고 호생(어긋나기)하며 엽병이 없다. 좁은 피침형 또는 넓은 선형이고

끝이 둔하며 1맥이 있고 때로 가장자리가 밋밋하나 뒤로 약간 말린다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

높이 20-40cm이고 줄기 전체에 백색 복모가 있으며 다소 잿빛이 돌고 곧게 서며 기부에서 많은 가지가 갈라진다
