(청색)노루귀(미나리아재비과 노루귀속) Hepatica asiatica Nakai

작년 이맘 때 쯤 의성에서 발생한 산불이 안동까지 옮기면서 근래 최대 규모의 산불로 고운사 소나무 숲을 깡그리 다 태워 버렸다,

고운사 사찰도 일부 타 버렸고 진입로 마을의 판넬 집들이 화마에 녹으면서 종잇장 처럼 구겨져 버렸다.

 

그 화재 당일 고운사 숲에서 노루귀를 담고 빠져 나온 후 화마가 마을과 사찰을 삼켜 버린 것이었다.

매년 몇 차례 그 곳을 찾았던 나는 천 년 고찰이 불에 탔다는 사실이 너무 어이가 없어서 엉엉 울어 버리고 말았다.

 

그 후 도저히 그 황망한 상실의 현장을 볼 용기가 나지 않아서 곳을 찾지 않았는데, 

일 년이 지났으니 그래도 좀 회복이 되지 않을까 싶어서 날 좋은 오후에 그 곳으로 차를 몰았다.

 

마을은 복구된 집은 드물고 똑 같은 형태의 패널 집들이 줄 지어 설치되어서

마을 주민들이 임시 거주를 하고 있었는데 그 모습이 무슨 수용소 같은 느낌이라 영 불편스러움으로 다가왔다.

 

길 좌우 산은 까맣게 타 버린 소나무 사체만 남아서 황량하였는데

산 아래쪽 죽은 소나무를 벌채하여 잘라놓은 무더기가 절 입구까지 늘어서 있었다.

목재로 사용하려면 일년 안에 벌채를 해야 한다더니 대형 트럭들이 좁은 길을 오가고 있는 게 아마도 벌채 작업 때문인 것 같다.

 

일주문 옆에 차를 세우고 절쪽 으로 발걸음을 옮기는데

나무를 잘라낸 산자락은 풀 한포기도 아직 돋아나지 않았고 관목들도 자라난 모습이 거의 안 보여서

화마의 피해가 얼마나 처참한지 가늠하기조차 어려웠다.

 

그 처참한 흔저들을 보고 있자니 카메라를 들고 온 내가 얼마나 부끄럽던지

누가 볼세라 옷 속에 카메라를 숨기면서 산사로 난 길을 걸었다.

 

돌아가야겠다고 잠시 너른 자리에서 쉬고 있는데 도랑 건너 나무 발치에 보라색이 어른 거린다.

그냥 갈까 하다가 머뭇거리면서 카메라를 들이 대었다. 지나가는 차들이 볼까 많이 챙피스러웠다. ㅠㅠ.
