원지(원지과 원지속) Polygala tenuifolia Willd.

낙동강 건너 가까운 곳에 원지 가 살고 있다. 우리 나라에서는 유일한 원지 자생지이다.

이 산의 이름도 히얀하게 원지산이라 부른다. 석회암 지역으로 이 산 북쪽은 암석을 채굴하던 장소가 있다.

 

이 곳을 중심으로 주변 산마루 여기 저기에 원지가 살고 있는 것이 눈에 띈다.

어쩌다 이곳에 이 녀석이 자생하게 되었을까?

 

한반도 중부 이북에 나며, 러시아 아무르, 우수리, 몽골, 중국 북부 등에 분포한다. 이 종은 병아리풀에 비해 식물체는 보다 크고, 잎은 선형으로 잎자루는 짧거나 없으며, 뿌리가 굵다.
