몽골식물- 좁은잎갯활량나물(콩과 갯활량나물속)Thermopsis lanceolata

바다라고는 걸치지도 않은 이 산지 초원에 갯활량나물이라니?

이 넓은 초지에서 갯활량나물을 만나다니 신기할 따름이다.

 

몽골의 국경은 바다가 없다. 그런데도 북부 산지에서는 암염이 채취되고 염호가 있다.

 

몽골의 수도 울란바토르에서 북쪽으로 1500km 정도 떨어진 옵스 아이막.

여기에 몽골에서 가장 큰 호수인 옵스 호수가 있다.

폭과 길이가 80km에 이르는 거대한 호수는 염분을 포함한 소금호수이기도 한데,

러시아에서 몽골에 걸쳐있는 옵스 산맥이 바로 소금광맥이다.

결국 몽골 땅은 대륙의 지각변동에 의하여 해저 지역이 융기되어 육지가 되었을 것을.......

그러니 염생식물과 갯가식물이 몽골 깊숙한 내륙에 자란다고 해도 이상할 이유가 없는 것이다.

 

이 곳에 자생하고 있는 뿔나문제, 취명아주 등의명아주과 식물과 눈양지꽃, 갯봄맞이꽃 등에 이어

이 갯활량나물도 해안에서 자라는 갯가 식물이다.

우리 나라 에서는유일하게 양양 해안에서 자생이 확인되고 있는 녀석이다. 

 

김찬수박사는 이 곳의 갯활량나물을  초지에 사는 좁은잎갯활량나물 Thermopsis lanceolata 과

고비 사막 같은 건조한 지역의 자갈밭이나 초원, 염호 호반에 자라는 몽골갯활량나물 Thermopsis mongolica

두 종이 자생하는 것으로 보고 있다.

 

좁은잎갯활량나물은 잎이 그다지 좁은 형이 아니지만

종소명 ' lanceolata'의 의미가 창모양의 피침형이란 뜻을 가지고 있어서 그렇게 명명하였다고 한다.

몽골갯활량나물의 잎이 더 좁은 선형으로 잎 길이가 너비의 5배 이상의 특징이 있다고 한다.

 

생물자원관에도 이 두 종의 표본이 보관되어 있는 게 검색된다.

 

이 녀석은 아마도 좁은잎갯활량나물 Thermopsis lanceolata 로 봐야 할 것 같다.

한국의 갯활량나물과 같겠지 하면서 제대로 담지 못하고 그냥 퍽퍽 몇 장 담은 것이 좀 아쉽다.
