큰도꼬마리(국화과 도꼬마리속) Xanthium orientale L.

이 녀석을 처음 만났던 건 2012년 울산 태화강변이었다.

이후 대구와 안동 등지에서 만나게 되었는데 이제는 전국적으로 퍼져 있는 것 같다.

 

한적한 시골길을 달리는데 도로변에 도꼬마리 종류가 흘낏 지나친다.

차를 세우고 들여다보니 개화가 시작은 되었지만 열매가 안 보인다.

도꼬마리는 잎이나 꽃으로는 정체를 알아챌 수가 없다.

어린 열매를 달고 있는 녀석이 있긴 하지만 최대 접사를 하니

가시에 털비늘이 안 보이니 가시도꼬마리가 아닌 거란 것만 알겠다.

 

혹시나 도꼬마리였으면 좋겠지만 도꼬마리는 만나보기 쉽지 않다.

아쉬운 마음에 다시 한참을 달리는데 또 다른 몇 포기가 나타난다.

큰 열매도 달고 있는데 큰도또라미였다. 에혀~!

 

 

큰도꼬마리의 열매는 가시가 매우 길고 일정하다.
