회화나무(콩과 회화나무속) Styphnolobium japonicum (L.) Schott

중국원산인 회화나무는 고위 관직의 품위를 나타내는 의미로 궁궐 안에 흔히 심었는데

현재 수령이 오랜 회화나무가 아직도 건재해 있다.

 

또는 '학자수' 라 하며 선비들이 있는 마을 입구에 회화나무를 심어 학문을 게을리 하지 않는 선비가 사는 곳임을 알렸다.

회화나무는 상서로운 나무로 문 앞에 심어두면 잡귀신의 접근을 막아 그 집안이 내내 평안할 수 있다고 하여 

일반 주민들의 집안이나 반가 마을에도  많이 심어 온 나무이다.

 

매년 꽃을 담아야지 하면서 매번 개화 시기를 넘겨버리던 녀석이다.

고속도로변에 많이 조경수로 심겨져 있는데 차를 멈출 수가 없어서 그냥 지나치기만 했는데

마침 수목원에서 한창 꽃을 피우고 있다. 카메라로 담다가 베터리가 나가 버려서 폰으로 보충했더니 화질이 별로이다

 

 장마 기간에 아까시나 다릅나무 꽃을 닮은 옅은 미색의 꽃을 피우는데 고삼 열매와 비슷한 열매가 달린다
