이 녀석 풋열매를 관찰한 적은 있지만 이렇게 잘 익은 열매 껍질을 까서 종자를 들여다 보긴 첨이다
현호색 녀석들의 종자를 관찰하려고 껍질을 제거하다 보면 종자 배열이 다 흐트러져서 제대로 관찰하기 어려웠는데
용케도 껍질을 제거하는데 성공하였다.
까만 종자에 하얀 얼라이오좀도 서비스로 달고서 개미가 물고 가 주기만 기다리고 있다.
얼레지, 깽깽이풀, 현호색, 괴불주머니의 종자에는 개미들이 좋아하는 얼라이오좀이 붙어 있는데
이는 종자를 멀리 퍼뜨리기 위한 식물의 전략이다.
얼라이오좀은로 개미들이 좋아하는 당분 덩어리로
개미는 얼라이오좀이 붙어있는 씨앗을 개미집으로 가져가 얼라이오좀만 떼먹고 씨앗은 버린다.
즉, 개미는 얼라이오좀으로 영양을 공급 받고, 식물들은 종자를 퍼뜨리게 된다
결과적으로 얼라이오좀으로 개미들의 도움을 받게 되어 여기 저기 종족을 번식시키게 되는 것이다
이 녀석은 잘 여물어서 그런지 종자가 봉합선에 달라 붙어서 용케도 떨어지지 않고 있다.
종자가 떨어질까 봐 얼마나 조심했는지 ...달달달~~~~ㅎ.
