새삼(메꽃과 새삼속)

새삼 종류로 갯실새삼, 실새삼, 미국실새삼, 새삼이 있다. 

이 녀석은 기생식물인데 줄기를 자세히 보면 줄기에삼각형의 인편 잎이 있다.

기생식물이므로 스스로 양분을 만들지 못하고 숙주식물로 부터 영양분을 섭취하는 건 기본이고.

실새삼 : 화통 열편 끝이 비교적 둥글고 바로 서서 뒤로 젖혀지지 않고,  수술대가 화통 열편 밖으로 길게 드러나며, 화통 열편이 악통(꽃받침) 밖으로 매우 길게 노출이 되어 있다. 열매가 화통 밖으로 1/2이상 노출된다. 줄기가 연노랑색으로 화통 열편이 결실기에도 붙지 않는다. 미국실새삼 : 화통 열편은 비교적 끝이 뾰족하고 흔히 끝이 뒤집히며, 수술 꽃밥만 화통 열편 사이에 드러나며, 꽃받침이 화통을 거의 덮어서 화통 열편이 약간 보이는 듯하다. 열매가 화통 밖으로 1/2이상 노출된다. 갯실새삼 : 악통이 화통을 1/2 이하로 싸고, 열매가 화통 열편에 거의 싸여 윗부분만 약간 보인다

 

 

꽃은 8~9월에 피고 백색이며 소화경이 짧거나 없고 수상화서에 모여 달린 꽃이 다시 모여서 덩어리처럼 된다.

 

포는 비늘모양이고 꽃받침은 5개로 갈라지며 열편은 원형 또는 타원형이고 원두이며 길이 1mm 정도로서 곧추서고

화관은 총형이며 길이 3.5-4mm로서 위에서부터 1/3정도까지 5개로 갈라지고 열편은 긴타원형이다.

5개의 수술이 있고 암술대는 길이 1.5mm로서 끝이 2개로 갈라진다

 

 

 

 

잎은 비늘 같으며 길이 2mm정도로서 삼각형이다.

삭과는 난형이며 9~10월에 성숙하고 익으면 벌어지면서 종자가 나온다.

종자는 지름 2.5-3mm이다. 종자를 토사자라 한다.
