좀조팝나무(장미과)

덕유산 향적봉에서 중봉으로 가는 도중

 톡! 톡! 꽃봉오리 터뜨리고 있는 붉은색도 고운 조팝나무를 만났다.

참조팝나무인지 좀조팝나무인지 모르겠다. 분명 종은 분류되어 있는데 차이점이 없다.

아무튼 속눈썹 같은 꽃술을 깜빡거리면서 쉬었다 가라고 눈웃음 친다. 

 

 

5~6월경에 피고 지름 7-9mm로서 새가지 끝에 달리는 겹산방화서에 흰꽃이 화려하게 피는데, 중앙부는 연한 홍색이고 화서는 직경 10㎝내외이다. 꽃받침잎은 뒤로 젖혀지며 꽃잎은 지름 3㎜로 둥글고 수술의 길이는 꽃잎의 2배 정도이다. 자방은 4-5개로서 수술의 기부와 더불어 연한 홍색이다.

 

 

 

 

높이가 1.5m에 달하며 가지는 능각이 있고 털이 없으며 자갈색이나, 어린가지에는 연한 털이 있다.

 

 

 

잎은 호생하고 타원형, 장타원형 또는 난상 장타원형이며 첨두,예저이고 길이 3-5cm 정도이나 맹아지의 것은 10㎝인 것도 있으며 중앙 이상에 단거치 또는 복거치가 있고 표면에 털이 없으며 뒷면에도 털이 거의 없고 회록색이며 엽병은 길이 5-10mm로서 털이 없다.
