몽골식물- 뿌리속단(꿀풀과 속단속) Phlomoides tuberosa (L) Moench = Phlomis tuberosa L.

몽골 첫 숙영지가 우랑터거 분화구 주변 숲이다.

새벽 5시에 징기스칸 공항에 도착 후 울란바토르 외곽으로 빠져나왔다.

거리가 멀지만 울란바토르 시가지를 통과하기에는 교통지옥에 갇혀 버리기 때문이다

 

다르항 대형 마트에서 야영을 위한 식료품과 식재료, 생수를 가득 사서 짐칸과 좌석 틈새에 채워 넣었다.

숙영을 위한 텐트, 침낭, 식기구, 식재료, 일행의 캐리어로 짐칸의 짐은 천정까지 꽉 차 있다.

 

중간에 점심식사로 라면을 끓이고, 잠깐씩 서면서 촬영을 하느라 첫 숙영지 도착이 늦었다.

첫 숙영지에 거의 9시가 되어서 도착을 하여 급하게 텐트를 치고 저녁식사를 준비를 서둔다.

 

부대장이 얼려서 가지고 온 고등어와 조기를 팬에서 구워서 절임 반찬과 함께 한 식사는 꿀맛이었다.

저녁 식사가 늦기도 했고 다들 라면으로 점심을 떼운 후라 식사 량이 많아진다. 

고기 굽는 냄새를 맡았는지 어느새 머리 위에서 솔개 두마리가 빙빙 돌고 있었다.

 

숙영지에 도착하면서 하늘에 먹구름이 몰려와서 걱정을 했는데

결국 새벽 녘에 바람과 함께 소나기가 텐트 지붕을 두드린다.

 

새벽 5시에 분화구에 오르려 했지만 먹구름이 걷히지 않고 아직 어두워서 30분을 기다려서 분화구에 올랐다.

현무암 화산탄 같은 자갈이 사면에 깔려 있어서 두 발짝 오르기가 쉽지 않다.

풀을 밟으며 조심조심 오르면 물이 마른 분화구가 저 아래 펼쳐진다.

 

그 사면에 독불장군 처럼 서 있던 뿌리속단이다.

우리 나라 북부지역에 분포하는 산속단과 비슷한 모습을 하고 있는데

몽골의 초원에서 흔하게 만나는 속단속 녀석이다.
