단풍마(마과 마속) 열매 Dioscorea quinquelobata Thunb.

해안 도로변에 차를 세우고 이 녀석 열매를 촬영하는데

지나가던 차 한대가 급하게 서더니 경적을 울린다.

 

뭔가 싶어서 고개를 돌리니 이 곳에 사는 꽃동무가 차에서 내린다. 

2011년 백두산 꽃탐사 때 함께 했던 인연으로 계속 연락을 하고 있는 꽃동무다.

 

연락을 할까 하다가 근무 중일 것 같아서 그냥 올라가려고 했더니 용코로 들켰다. ㅋ

10월 말로 근무가 끝이 나서 꽃자리나 들러볼 요량으로 오랜만에 나온 길이라 한다.

 

이렇게 우연하게 만나기도 쉽지 않을 터인데 반갑게 인사 나누고 이런 저런 꽃이야기를 나누었다.

 

단풍마는 남부지역에 주로 분포하는 마과 마속 식물이다.

부채마처럼 잎이 손바닥 모양으로 갈라지는데 잎자루 기부에 작은 돌기가 있어서 쉽게 구분이 된다

 

단풍마는 남부지역에, 부채마는 전국적으로 분포한다고 하지만 내가 본 곳은 모두 대체로 중북부지역이었다.

안동에도 부채마는 볼 수 있지만 단풍마는 본 적이 없다. 

 

 

단풍마와 부채마는 잎의 결각에서 차이가 있다고는 하는데 

단풍마가 좀 더 깊게 갈라지긴 하지만 실제로 현장에서 만나는 잎은 변이 폭이 넓어서 구분이 쉽지 않다.
