아욱(아욱과 아욱속) Malva verticillata L.

아욱은 민가에서 많이 재배하는 채소로 주로 잎을 식용으로 이용한다.

된장을 풀어서 끓인 아욱국은 된장의 구수함과 함께 식욕을 돋우어 주기도 한다.

꽃은 애기아욱처럼 작고 열매는 10~12개의 심피로 이루어진 분과이다.
