미국질경이(질경이과 질경이속) Plantago virginica L.

제주에 퍼져 있는 귀화식물이다.

창질경이에 비하여 수상화서가 길고 수술이 화판보다 짧고 잎이 주걱형이다.

잎	난형, 타원형, 엽병과 엽신 길이 비슷, 물결모양 톱니,  털 있거나 없음	좁은장타원형, 엽신이 좁아지며 아래로 흐름, 엽병기부 약간 넓어짐, 백색 연모 밀생	난상 타원형 길이 10-30cm 엽병 3-20cm, 밋밋 혹은 얕은 결각상 톱니	장타원형, 타원상 도피침형, 끝은 뾰족, 5개의 평행맥 거센 털이 드문	잎은 곧추서고 양쪽 끝이 좁고 뾰족, 가늘고 긴 엽병, 잎뒷면 맥 위와 자루에 갈색 털
꽃	포 좁은 난형, 꽃받침과 화관 끝은 4열	포 난형 털 없음, 꽃받침 털 없음	포 난형 꽃받침 4열,	포 장타원형, 백색 막질 있음, 꽃받침 백색 막질	포 삼각상 난형, 꽃받침 투명한 막질 얕게 2열
종자	종자 6-8개	종자 4개	종자 8-12개	종자 4개	종자 2개
특징		털질경이에 비해 백색 연모가 밀생	전체가 장대하고 털이 없음	개질경이에 비해 꽃과 꽃밥이 작고 잎에 거센 털이 드문	질경이에 비하여 잎이 곧추서며 종자는 삭과당 2개로 배쪽에 홈이 있음
