맨드라미(비름과 맨드라미속) Celosia argentea var. cristata (L.) Kuntze

사찰 주변 경관지 안에 맨드라미를 참하게도 가꾸어 놓았다.

닭벼슬 모양 꽃을 피우는 맨드라미를 참 오랜만에 본다.

아마도 꽃무릇 축제와 맞물린 시기에 함께 어우러져 꽃 을 피우는 녀석이라서 식재종으로 간택이 된 모양이다.

 

어릴 적 마당가에는 봉숭아 백일홍과 함께 꼭 이 녀석 몇 포기가 여름부터 계절을 다투어 꽃을 피웠더랬는데

추석 즈음이면 안동 지역에서는 기지떡으로 불리는 증편을 찌거나 지단을 부칠 때

검정 깨와 함께 붉은 맨드라미 꽃과 잎으로 그림을 만들어서 장식을 했더랬다.

 

발효를 시킨 기지떡은 오래 두어도 잘 상하지 않았고 식감도 부드러워서 지금도 무척 즐기는데

약간 시큼한 발효 식품 특유의 향도 무척 좋아했더랬다.
