백두산이나 국내 고산에서 담은 꿩의다리 녀석을 바이칼꿩의다리로 잘못 올려진 사진들이 비일비재하다
아니 거의 99.9%가 꿩의디리를 바이칼로 올려놓았다.
꿩의다리는 탁엽이 갈라지지 않고 둥글게 엽병을 둘러싸는 형태로 간혹 한 두 군데가 갈라지는 모습을 하고 있다.
또 소엽병마다 작은 탁엽이 있어서 바이칼꿩의다리와는 아주 쉽게 구분이 가능한데도
백두산에서 담은 꿩의다리를 바이칼꿩의다리라 하는 이야기만 듣고 모두 바이칼꿩의다리로 올려 두었다.
탁엽이 보이지 않더라도 잎차례에서도 차이점이 있는데 바이칼은 2~3회 3출엽이고 꿩의다리는 2~3회 깃꼴이다.
또 열매를 보면 바이칼은 열매 자루가 거의 없다시피 짧고 럭비공처럼 타원형에 위로 꼿꼿하게 달리는 모습을 하는데
꿩의다리 열매는 3릉형에 날개가 있고 열매 자루가 길어서 귀걸이처럼 아래로 늘어져서 달랑거린다.
국내에는 바이칼꿩의다리 서식이 확인되지 않고 있는데
최근 북부지역 식생조사에서 바이칼꿩의다리가 서식하는 걸 확인하였다는 이야기가 있기는 하다
식생 환경이 좋은 고산에서는 꿩의다리가 사람 키보다 더 크게 대형으로 자라서
그냥 크다는 이유만으로 바이칼꿩의다리로 쉽게 단정해 버리는 모양인데...
위에서 언급한 내용만 잘 살펴 보면 금방 실수가 드러날텐데 말이다.
늦은 8월 덕유산에서 담은 꿩의다리 열매이다.
주변의 국화과 식물들보다 눈에 띄게 키가 크고
에지간한 관목들과 키를 겨룰 정도로 우뚝 솟아 나온 모습이 우렁우렁하다
