육지의 참나물에 비하여 잎의 갈림이 더 많은 1-2회 3출복엽으로 근엽은 개화시까지 그대로 남는다.

잎의 양면에 털이 산생하고 특히 엽연과 주맥상의 다세포 털은 2-4마디를 가지며 마디 부분이 잘록하다는데 털을 관찰해 본 적은 없다
