매미꽃(양귀비과 매미꽃속) Coreanomecon hylomeconoides Nakai

이른 봄에 털조장나무를 보러 남쪽에 왔다가 매미꽃 봉오리만 보고 갔다.

피나물과 함께 어울려 피기도 하는 매미꽃은 남쪽에 서식을 하기에 윗녘에서는 꽃을 볼 수가 없다

 

피나물은 줄기가 자라서 줄기 끝에 꽃을 피우지만 매미꽃은 뿌리에서 화축이 나오기 때문에 잎의 달림이 없다

피나물은 전초에 털이 없지만 매미는 꽃받침과 화축에 털이 많다.

 

여름까지 꽃을 피운다고는 하지만 이 녀석도 개화 절정이 5월 중순까지라 절정을 지나버린 모습은 엉성하기만 하다.

이태 전에 제주도에 갔다가 생태숲에 들여온 육지의 식물에 따라온 매미가 한 포기 꽃피운 것을 봤던 게 고작이니

그래도 서식지에서 매미꽃을 담았다는데 의미를 두어 본다.
