쥐똥나무와는 비교가 안될 정도로 수고가 높고 잎도 크고 열매도 컸다.
얼핏 보면 광나무 열매같은 느낌이지만 잎이 광나무보다는 얇다.
=>(한국의 쥐똥나무속 분류학적 재검토 논문(2023)에 의거하여 버들쥐똥나무로 정정, 그 동안 왕쥐똥나무로 오동정되었음
잎은 대생하고 두꺼우며 난상 타원형, 도란형 또는 긴 타원형이고 예두이며 넓은 예저이고 길이 6-10cm, 폭 2-5cm로서
양면에 털이 없으며 윤채가 있고 표면은 짙은 녹색이며 뒷면은 황록색이고 가장자리에 톱니가 없으며 엽병은 길이 3-4mm이다
높이가 5m에 달하며 가지는 회색이고 털이 없다.
