자주달개비가 아직도 꽃을 피우고 있다.
5월경부터 가지 끝에서 꽃이 피고 꽃은 가는 화경에 모여 달리며 자줏빛이 돌고 당일 쓰러진다.
외화피는 3개이며 두껍고 녹자색이며, 내화피는 3개로서 보다 넓고 자주색이다.
수술은 6개로서 수술대에 털이 많으며 털은 염주형이고 세포가 연결되어 있어 식물학에서 세포실험재료로 흔히 사용한다.
