길 옆 절벽으로 기어 오르는 개버무리는 담기에 더 운치가 있다.
먼지를 덮어써서 뿌옇기는 하지만 공간이 여유로워서 담기에 좋다.

잎은 대생하고 2회3출 복엽이며 소엽은 긴 난형 또는 피침형이고 어느 정도 치밀한 톱니가 있으며 양면에 털이 없다.
길이 2m까지 자라는 덩굴성으로 1년생 줄기는 적자색이다 잎자루로 물체를 감으면서 덩굴을 뻗친다.
열매는 수과로 미나리아재비과의 특징인 백두옹처럼 허연 머리처럼 긴 털이 있으며 끝에 깃털모양의 긴 암술대가 꼬리처럼 달린다.
주로 경북 및 강원도 이북의 표고 100~1,700m 지역의 냇가나 산 기슭에 서식한다.
