매실나무(장미과 벚나무속)- 거제의 춘당매

폐교된 구조라초등학교 울타리 축대 위의 고목 매실나무에 꽃이 화사하게 피었다.

이 학교가 자리잡은 언덕을 춘당이라 불렀으며 지역주민들은 이 곳에 자라는 매실나무를 춘당매라 부른다.

 

산을 등진 남쪽 언덕에 자리잡은 덕에 봄볕을 일찍부터 받으니 일찍 개화를 하는 모양이다.

수령이 120~150년 정도로 추정하고 있는데 학교 교정 안에 4그루가 있고 마을 입구에 1그루가 있다.
