방아풀(꿀풀과 산박하속)

방아풀이나 자주방아풀 모두 꽃줄기와 꽃받침이 자주색을 띠고 있다.

자주방아풀은 '자주' 란 접두어 때문에 전초가 자색을 띠면 자주방아풀이라는 오해를 받고 있다.

 

방아풀은 암술과 수술이 모두 꽃잎 밖으로 돌출하여 드러나 보인다.

그에 비하여 자주방아풀은 암술만 밖으로 드러나고 수술은 아래 꽃잎 안에 들어 있어서 드러나지 않고 꽃받침통에 털이 매우 밀생한다. 잎 뒷면에도 방아풀보다 샘털의 밀도가 높다(밀도 40개/mm2 이상) 고 한다.
