이 녀석을 여기서 처음 본다. 남아메리카 원산인 귀화식물인 이 녀석은 주로 남쪽에서 볼 수 있다.
대구까지는 서식을 하는 모양인데 안동 인근에는 아직 올라오지 못한 모양이다.
전초의 느낌은 울산도깨비바늘과 무척 흡사한데 이 녀석은 잎이 주로 깃꼴 3소엽이다.
노란색 혀꽃을 가진 도깨비바늘이나 털도깨비바늘에 비하여 혀꽃이 크고 흰색을 띠고 있다.
꽃은 취산화서를 이룬다.
두화 지름은 10~12mm. 총포편은 7~8개, 주걱형이며, 길이 3~4mm이다. 설상화는 4~6개, 불임성, 흰색이고, 3열이다
