매미꽃(양귀비과 매미꽃속) Coreanomecon hylomeconoides Nakai

피나물과 사촌지간인 이 녀석을 제주에서 처음 대면한다.

피나물은 줄기 끝에 꽃이 피는데 꽃 아래에 잎이 목도리처럼 받치고 있고 4월 말경 봄에 개화를 한다.

매미꽃은 뿌리에서 꽃자루가 바로 올라와서 꽃을 피우기 때문에 꽃대에 잎이 없고 피나물보다 늦게 개화를 하면서 여름 늦도록 꽃을 피운다.

 

딱 한포기가 육지의 아짐을 접대한다고 한 송이 꽃을 피우고 있었는데 생태숲 조성 때 어디 묻어 온 것 같단다.
