낙동강 수변에 제법 많은 개체가 보인다.
언젠가 꽃동무가 다리 부근에 양명아주가 있다는 야그를 한 적이 있더니
털여뀌와 큰비짜루국화를 담자고 오전 시간에 강변을 어슬렁 거린 덕분에 이 녀석도 만나게 되었다.
꽃은 원추화서를 이루며, 꽃자루에 잎 모양 포엽 줄져난다. 화피편은 5개이고 , 난형이며, 선점이다.
양성화는 크고, 수술은 5개. 자성화는 작고, 수술은 퇴화, 주두가 3개이다.
잎은 어긋나며, 장 타원상 피침형, 크기 다른 톱니, 짧은 엽병. 뒷면 담황색 선점, 맥위 다세포털.
중간잎 길이 6~8cm, 나비 2~3cm, 위쪽 잎 톱니 없고, 선형이다.
열매는 포과로 종자 둥근 난형, 흑갈색, 지름 7mm.
줄기는 가지를 많이 치며, 위쪽에 성긴 털 있다. 독특한 냄새 난다.
