<통발> 현삼목 통발과 통발속

늦게서야 찾은 공갈못에 통발 꽃은 다 끝나고 줄기 끝의 꽃눈이 내년을 기약하고 있다.

통발속은 널리 분포하는 약 120종(種)의 육상·수생 식물을 포함하는데,

 

 

잎은 호생하고 길이 3-6cm이며 우상으로 실같이 가늘게 갈라지며 열편에 가시같이 끝나는 톱니가 있고 포충대가 있다.

줄기는 어느 정도로 굵다. 겨울철에는 원줄기 끝에서 잎이 총생하여 둥글게 되며 물속으로 가라앉아 월동한다 

 

  

 

통발은 싸리나 대나무로 원뿔 형태로 만든 물고기를 잡는 도구인데 물고기가 이 통발 속에 들어가면 빠져나올 수 없도록 되어 있다.

이 식충식물 통발이란 이름도 물고기를 잡는 도구에서 이름을 가져 왔다고 한다. 실처럼 갈라진 열편의 잎에는 벌레를 잡는 주머니가 있다.

물 속에서 떠다니면서 섭취하는 부족한 영양분을 이 포충낭을 통해서 물속 작은 곤충을 잡아서 보충하는 모양이다.

 

 검은 점처럼 보이는 것이 통발의 포충낭이다.

벌레주머니는 유연한 판에 의해 입구가 닫혀 있는 속이 빈 구조이다.

작은 동물이 접근해와 판의 표면에 나와 있는 털에 부딪치게 되면, 갑자기 판이 열리고 물이 재빠르게 유입되어 먹이를 안쪽으로 빨아들이고 소화시킨다. 그뒤 판은 약 0.03초 내에 다시 닫히며, 15~30분 이내에 물을 외부로 빼냄으로써 주머니는 다시 원래의 상태로 되돌아간다.
