낙지다리 옆에 바늘꽃 한포기가 눈에 들어 온다. 헌데 가늘고 길쭉한 잎이 돌바늘꽃 하고는 다르다.
잎 줄기, 꽃자루, 자방에 밀모로 덮여 있고 전초가 부드럽다. 또 다른 바늘꽃 한 종류를 만난 게 분명하다.
도감을 살펴보고 사이트를 뒤진 결과 버들바늘꽃과 흰털바늘꽃으로 접근을 하였는데,
흰털바늘은 털이 없다고 되어 있다. 결론은 버들바늘꽃으로. 땅땅!
잎이 버들잎처럼 길쭉해서 버들바늘꽃이란 이름을 얻은 것 같다.

꽃은 7-8월에 피며 연한 홍색이고 줄기나 가지끝 엽액에서 핀다.
소화경에 굽은 털이 밀생하며 꽃받침은 길이 4-5mm로 4개의 피침상의 열편이 있다.
꽃잎도 4개이며 길이 5-8mm로서 도란형이고 끝이 오목하다.
자방은 굽은 털이 밀생하며 선모가 약간 있고 8개의 수술과 1개의 암술이 있으며 암술머리는 굵은 곤봉형이다
길다란 자방은 세모로 각이 나 있고 뽀얗게 털이 덮여 있다.
중앙부의 경생엽은
선상 피침형이며
둔두 또는 예두이고 예저 또는 둔저이며
길이 2-6cm, 폭 2-15mm로서 표면과 뒷면 맥위 및 가장자리에 굽은 털이 있고
가장자리에 뚜렷하지 않는 톱니가 있으며 엽병이 거의 없다.
줄기, 꽃자루 자방을 덮고 있는 선모가 보인다.
이 녀석은 비교 자료로 <돌바늘꽃>이다. 암술머리 공모양이고 가느다란 암술대가 있음 ,
잎자루가 극히 짧고 난상 타원형 또는 피침형이며 밑이 좁고 끝이 뾰족하며 가장자리에 잔톱니가 있다.
전초에 밀모가 보이나 버들바늘꽃보다는 덜하다.
