몽골에서 만나던 검붉게 익던 섬개야광나무속 녀석과 달리 잎과 붉은색으로 열매가 있고 있다.
붉은 열매를 다는 종은 몽골 고유종 "몽골개야광나무" Cotoneaster mongolicus Pojark. 가 있다.
근데 붉은 열매를 달고 있는 녀석으로 Cotoneaster uniflorus 란 녀석이 또 있어서 헷갈린다.
도감의 이미지와 검색한 큐의 자료로 봐서 Cotoneaster uniflorus로 정리한다.
