멀구슬나무(멀구슬나무과 멀구슬나무속)

제주는 멀구슬나무가 한창 보라색 꽃을 피워서 꿀벌을 불러 모으고 있다.

이 녀석은 자생이다. 아니다 들여온 것이다 로 의견이 분분하다. 

제주도와 남부지역에서는 마을 주변 산자락에 흔하게 볼 수 있는데 

이 시기의 대표적인 밀원식물이기도 하다.

 

헌데 요즈음 꽃의 수정을 담당하는 꿀벌의 수가 줄어들어서 과수 농가들이 걱정이 크다고 한다.

꽃의 수정을 위하여 궁여지책으로 몇 십만 원을 주고 벌통을 사서 과수원에 풀어 놓는다고 한다.

 

풍성하게 꽃을 피운 멀구슬나무가 흐뭇한 풍광을 만들고 있다.
