후추등(후추과 후추속) 열매 Piper kadsura (Choisy) Ohwi

제주도에 계곡부 수목이나 바위를 기어오르는 모습을 흔하게 볼 수가 있다. 

남부지역의 섬에도 드물게 자생하는데 거문도에서도 본 적이 있다. 

 

암수딴그루로 줄기에 나 있는 짤막한 고리  마디에서 뿌리가 내려 자라나 바위 또는 나무에 붙어 기어올라간다. 

열매에서 후추 맛이 약하게 나는 모양인데 후추 대용으로 식용할 정도는 아닌 모양이다. 

5월 꽃이 필 때까지 붉은 열매가 남아 있기도 한다.
