자주 만나지 못한 명아주과 녀석들을 보면 너무 반갑다.
해안에서 변산향유에 집중해 있는데 대청도에서 한 번 본 적이 있는 참명아주가 눈에 들어 온다.
곱게 단풍이 들어서 붉은 열매까지 반가운 녀석이다.
유럽이 원산지이고 해안지방에서 발생한다. 줄기는 높이 40~80cm 정도이고 가지가 많이 갈라진다
아래쪽의 잎은 마주나고 위쪽으로 가면 어긋나며, 삼각형 또는 능형이며 가장자리에 파상의 톱니가 있다.
창명아주로 불리던 녀석이 창갯는쟁이로 국명이 바뀌었다.
열매가 갯는쟁이속과 같으니 바뀌는게 맞다.
과실은 낭과로 수평으로 달리고 표면에 잔돌기가 약간 있다.
