꽃은 조뱅이를 무척 닮았는데 잎은 우상으로 심하게 갈라져서 결각이 져 있다.
중국식물지에서 검색하니 Klasea centauroides 란 녀석과 일치한다
국가표준식물목록에는 아종인 잔잎산비장이 Klasea centauroides (L.) Cass. subsp. komarovii (Iljin) L.Martins 가 등록되어 있다.
