강가에 서식하고 있는 긴오이풀은 화서가 2cm~5cm까지 크기가 다양하고
꽃색도 짙은 홍자색에서 연한 자색에 이르기까지 다양하였다.
꽃술이 아주 긴 가는오이풀에 비하여 긴오이풀은 꽃술이 꽃받침보다 약간 긴 정도이다.
가는오이풀은 꽃밥의 크기가 꽃술대의 굵기보다 작은데, 긴오이풀은 꽃밥이 꽃술대 보다 더 크다.
화서가 긴 녀석은 5cm 정도 되었고. 이렇게 붉은색이 연한 것도 있었다.
화서가 짧은 것은 2~3cm 정도 되는 것이 많았다.
붉은색과 옅은 붉은색의 화서가 함께 나타났다.
조금 더 붉은색의 화서로 길이가 5cm정도로 그 중에 긴 녀석이다
기재문상으로는 소엽이 5~9개라 기록되어 있지만 실제로는 그보다 더 많은 소엽을 가지고 있다.
엽상의 탁엽이 있다고는 하는데 잎자루 기부에 붙어 있는 걸 보면
탁엽이라기 보다 작은 소엽이 고부라져서 줄기를 감싸는 형상을 하고 있는 게 아닌가 싶다
