(붉은)호장근(마디풀과)

6월에 성판악으로 한라산을 오를 때 정상부 아래 계단 주변에는 붉은호장근이 한창 자라고 있었다.

헌데 표준식물목록을 확인해 보니 호장근, 왕호장근, 감절대만 확인이 된다.

그럼 붉은호장근은 호장근에 통합되었단 말인감?

 

아무튼 열매가 붉게 익는 녀석으로 잎맥도 붉은 색인 이 녀석을 붉은호장근으로 올려 둔다.

이 녀석은 해발고도 1,500~2,000m의 햇볕이 잘 드는 산지에서 자란다. 높이 1~1.5m. 땅속줄기가 옆으로 뻗으며 자란다.

줄기는 속이 비어 있고 털이 없다. 어린 가지에는 자주색 반점이 있는데, 그 모습이 마치 호피 같다 하여 호장근이라는 이름이 붙었다.

 

 

꽃은 암수딴그루이며, 6~8월에 붉은 꽃이 수상꽃차례로 달린다. 수술 8개, 꽃받침은 5장이다.

열매는 수과(瘦果)로 삼각형 모양이며, 꽃받침에 싸여 있다. 9~10월에 붉은색으로 익고 윤기가 난다.

 

 

 

 

 

엽저(잎 아래)가 절단된 듯 하다.

 

잎은 어긋나며 길이 5~6cm의 넓은 바소꼴이고 잎 아래는 절단한 듯하고 잎자루가 있다.
