학교 옆 무덤 가에 타래난이 피었나 싶어서 어정거렸더니만
타래난은 안 보이고 솔나물만 노랗게 웃고 있었다. 이 녀석도 털솔나물일지 모르겠다.
같은 종(種)에 속하는 식물로서 흰색 꽃이 피는 흰솔나물(G.V. for. nikkoense), 연한 황록색 꽃이 피는 개솔나물(G.V. for. intermedium),
연한 황색 꽃이 피고 씨방에 털이 있는 흰털솔나물(G.V. for. album), 잎에 털이 많이 난 털잎솔나물(G.V. var. trachyphyllum) 등이 있다.
다른 종으로는 솔나물과 같으나 모든 부분의 크기가 작은 애기솔나물(G. pusillum)이 있는데, 이는 한라산 정상에서 자라는 한국 특산종이다.
키는 약 1m이고 윗부분에서 가지가 많이 갈라진다.
잎은 길이 2~3㎝, 너비 1.5~3㎜로 선형이고 8~10개씩 마디에 돌려나며, 잎가장자리는 매끈하고 뒤로 굽는다.
잎의 뒷면과 줄기, 그리고 꽃차례에 털이 있다.
