조경용으로 식재하는 백정화와 달리 잎겨드랑이와 가지 끝부분에 꽃이 여러개 뭉쳐서 달리고
꽃받침 열편이 긴 피침형으로 길게 뾰족하며 화관 열편이 뒤로 젖히고 화관 안쪽에 털이 많다.
