실청사초에 비하여 포복 근경 발달하여 있어서 주변에 넓게 무리를 짓는다.
자인편 길이와 과포 길이 같음, 자인편에 짧은 까락, 과포에 성글게 털
포엽 짧고 가시모양 엽초가 있다.
소수 2~3개
근경이 짧아서 총생하는 실청사초와 달리 포복 근경이 발달하여 이렇게 퍼져서 자란다
