호밀풀에 비하여 소화수가 10~20개로 많고 호영에 까락이 없거나 있으며
포영이 받치고 있는 호영보다 짧다
화서에 가지를 치는 경우 가지쥐보리로 분류하기도 한다.
아래 무리들 속에는 가지를 친 쥐보리가 섞여 있다.
