개사상자는 2~4개 정도의 소산경(작은꽃차례)을 가지고 있는데 비하여 사상자는 5~9개의 소산경을(6-20개 꽃) 가지고 있다.
개사상자는 총포가 거의 없거나 1~2개인데 사상자는 선형의 총포가 4~8개가 있다.
개사상자에 비하여 열매자루가 짧다.
